His style is always clean with a costant keen eye on innovation; his melodies and harmonic choices embody the Jazz improvisation and the Blues sound of his Suhr guitar.
Scott Henderson is definitely one of the most well rounded musician who has been inspiring many guitarists around the world.
A genuine and hybrid Jazz-Rock player where you can spot his Blues influences, when in his childwood was listening to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin.
Some of his pentatonic patterns are inspired to Jeff Beck, as he usually states during his workshops around the States and Europe.
Scott Henderson uses a very interesting box which works as a potentiometer when soloing.
It works as a volume but it is more efficient than a regular pedal as it gradually increases the volume of the guitar in harmony with all other instruments.
Wonderful technique, soaring and tender sounds, an intelligent virtuosism which never crosses the line.
I would advise to listen to “Reality check” (1995); this is the album I like the most. I had the chance to see him permorming for the first time in Rome in 1999 with his blues band, following the release of his album Torn Down House and then in 2006 I have attended his workshop at Cherubini, music school in Rome where he was launching his new album Well to the Bone.
